We painted the bottom of the wood later because we had to do it that way.
The wood was probably 50+ years old/aged (and the truck had resided in a high desert most of its life).
If I do the same with the replacement wood for my 54 pickup, that "new" wood has been kiln dried. I'll paint all sides during the same time period - probably painting the top last?
