Jim Carter Tech Article on bed wood type/color/etc General information on bed-wood finishes from Mar-K Mar-K results of testing bed wood finishes I recently used the Mar-K like process of: 2-coat POR and then 2 coats black exterior enamel on on a 21' flat-bed pine boards - who knows how well it will hold up?
I think I will do multiple coats of linseed-oil/black-coloring on the unfinished new pine boards in a 54 pickup we are working on.
The bed boards in Advance-Design trucks were black, and it looked more like a matte/semi-gloss dark black stain rather than a glossy black paint (I have seen a garaged original truck-bed on a collector's warehouse-stored 1954 pickup with less than 20,000 documented miles).
