I had the same problem with my 261 a few weeks ago. I hope your solution is as simple. I rebuilt/cleaned the carb about two-years prior, so that was the LAST thing that i looked for trouble. I checked my fuel filter,and it was fine. I then opted to tear the carb apart,and lo and behold, even with a brand-new tank,and blown-out fuel-lines,I had just enough sediment built-up in the jet area,to starve the engine. I gave the carb another good cleaning,and that did the trick. Hope this helps. Good Luck. B.T.W.-I've only heard and seen 6v pos.ground systems. I'm 99.9% sure your system is 12v neg. ground. What year is your truck/302?
