That's a great summary. I love to hear everyone's thoughts. You all know so much, and posts like this will pay off when I'm ready to buy a truck.

What I'm hearing so far is that a 230 is good, but a 250 will provide a bit more power and still be relatively efficient. The 292 and the V6 engines are probably too powerful for my needs.

The small-block V8 is still a mystery to me. So many people put the 350 in there, and I just don't need that, but a smaller V8 might be suitable. But if I want to work on it myself, an inline 6 is probably more appropriate.

So when I'm looking at trucks, I'll probably look for a 250, but I might consider a small V8. Either would probably be great for a daily driver.

That's my conclusion, but I'm still so ignorant on the subject. Any further advice you all have would be appreciated.
