Nice to have the time to get odd jobs done, except for the circumstances around that.
Although it's not necessary to remove the body,if you do, it will be very easy for a body shop to put it on a frame aligner. Given the year, you may need to provide some frame measurements from a shop manual to help them.
Short of a shop doing the work you could get out the tape measure and check references yourself, BUT I highly reccomend the use of a body shop precisely for the reasons Jerry stated.
