I think if you made it and offered it for sale, people would quickly learn your reputation and know that what you sold was top notch and right, not just close and beat to fit.
I think most who are in it for the love of the restoration would not think twice about paying more, if they didn't have to wring their hands wondering if the part they ordered was going to be right.
