Davey Do, since your truck is a '51 you also have the older style joints that Huck is referring to. In '53 they changed to the "mocern" style. You won't need a special tool to seperate yours, just take them apart. Maybe this page from the Chevs of the 40's catalog will shed some light on the subject (scroll down to the "drag link" section).
