Tiny, remember that Sears is Kmart now and the total lack of quality merchandise will make sense. Just yesterday I was in a Sears auto center getting a periodic tire rebalance and a customer was there looking at portable air compressors.
Every version on display was made in China and the guy left empty handed, refusing to buy that junk.
Next time you're in the Sears tool department, try finding drill bits labeled "High speed steel". No more of those at Sears. Now they tout "Black Oxide" and "Titanium" that are just coatings over industrial revolution era carbon steel drills that are labeled "For wood, plastic and soft metal".
Just like a drunk hitting bottom, maybe tool quality is hitting bottom too.
