Was tool shoppin yesterday at Home Depot, got a gift card from the inlaws to help get the tools I need for my new job.
Need a couple new vise grips and the only brand they had was, well, vise grip. ALL made in China with the little "made to specifications" stamped on the packaging. OK, so maybe they ensure that the quality is as high as they want, still not buying them. I'll just recondition my old ones & prolly get another couple decades out of them.
Channel-Lok is still US made, and they have a good variety of tools, and if the pliers I bought stand up to abuse I may replace some of my older beat up stuff as money allows.
Walked out of the store with just 4 items, 10" channel locks, 18oz ball peen, 6-pc set of pin punches, and a Stanley Fatmax razor knife, all US made. $50 doesn't go very far when you buy US made, but I'd rather pay more once than a lot more over time!

I dig all cars, old and new, whether they were hammered out of American iron, German steel, or Japanese tin cans. Being unable to appreciate them all is missing out on a world of great things.
