Most PVC pipe mfrs and vendors will adamantly say not to use for compressed air or vacuum due to shrapnel.
There IS a PVC built for air but pretty expensive and lines droop after a while. I do not recommend this.
Black iron WAS the choice for air but due to rust almost everyone is switching to copper for the distribution system. Use silver solder for fittings close to compressor going to reservoir. Out of the reservoir where they are cool sweat solder works like a charm.
Ingersoll Rand has good guidelines on putting in a system.
