I tried PVC in the 80's. It didn't last very long. I bought a bunch of sticks 7/8" hard copper about 10' long each. My son put it all together with compression fittings when he was in high school. He graduated in 93 and we have had no problems. We have added some to it since and used refrigeration copper. I like the 7/8" because we get good volume to our 1" impact wrenches. Another option would be Synflex air brake hose.
