I suggest buying the manual and a 'factory assembly manual' Both are indispensible.
I strongly reccomend Tom Brownell's book "How to Restore Chevy Trucks" (AMAZON, BORDERS...)
Most of the common vendors of truck parts sell the manuals, sometimes you can find them on e-bay or online- Here's a link that'll head you in the right direction.

Most of the stuff the different vendors sells is the same and the only difference is the price and shipping charges. It pays to shop around. It also pays to make a list and wait for a sale.
