One thing to remember - You don't have to spend everything at one time. Figure out what you have to do and purchase the parts/supplies you need for that and only that. No need to buy everything all at one once - you won't have time to put it on anyways.
My guess is you are going to spend $1,000 minimum.
Spread out over a whole year that isn't too bad.
When you are done, you will find it very satisfying to drive an old truck. People ask me about mine every time I stop to get gas, go to the store etc.
In other words - don't let the budget stop you
