I have used Showroom Transport several times without too much trouble. 900 miles should be less than $1K to transport. If you shop around you can get deals but make sure you get a set of keys. Once the driver gave my keys to the wrong guy and it took me 2 weeks to get them back.
I would hook up a gas can or remove the tank and clean it and the fuel lines before trying to start. Almost for certain the carburetor will need rebuilt and you might have some oil seals in the engine that leak. Sounds like you have an excellent starting point. Go for it.
