Alvin, the grease idea won't do much. I greased the heck out mine and after a month of driving it was all over the outsides and the leafs were back to metal to metal contact and even rusting some, thats why I went with the teflon liners. Speedway Motors and Yoji's (

It works the same way as the buttons do, only no holes to drill. It looks like the old Hot Wheels orange race track, so install it with the grooves down and the will shed the water and dirt away from and not into each leaf.
