I don't personally see a difference once you start driving, to be honest. At a certain point, it becomes entirely automatic (Especially on models like my '89 Chevy which tell you when to shift ...) on manuals, and an automatic just removes knee pain after a long day. Like John said, choice is great. As for traffic ... can't say I've been there, don't live near a big city any more.
