My 1 ton panel is a 4 spd. I think with the original 216, an auto would rob too much power. Besides, I have to admit, I think a stick is more fun at times.
One argument for an autonmatic could be made by anyone in a metropolitan area where you may spend cosiderable time inching along in heavy traffic.
