Again, guys, thanks for responding so quickly. So, to tell whether cylinder one is on compression stroke, the cylinder should be at TDC and I need to remove the valve cover and make sure both valves over cylinder one are closed (up). My next question scares me: if the valves on cylinder one are both closed, and the cylinder is not at TDC, then is the crank/ cam timing off? Is that what you guys mean by 180 off?

What is the best way to check that the valves on one are closed? If say the valves are closed and the cylinder isn't at TDC, would one more rotation through cure that or is there a cure? Sorry for all the questions. Please let me know?!
