OOOOOOK, as the weather is cool right now and brakes are sooo important I think you should take it slooow and easy. I figure a full brake job is in works. I mean new shoes, cylinders, and getting the drums turned.
Soooo, do ONE side at a time. That will give you the other side for a reference until you get the hang of it.
I'd disassemble one side, clean and put a coat of paint on the springs ect....Make sure the adjusting wheel is clean and turning free.
I really can't tell from the picture but if the lining on the shoes look thin then they must be replaced. If they are in pretty good shape that would mean the linings should have at least 1/8" thickness. Anything less replace them.
The drums should be turned unless they have been "turned" so many times they are to thin. In that case maybe one of us bolters can come up with a good used one.
Keep us posted....help is on the way!!!
EDIT: you will notice that the lining on the shoes differ just a bit. The lining on the shoe that goes toward the front will have a little less (shorter) lining on it. The lining on the rear of the set up will have the longer lining on the shoe. Take a look and you will see what I'm talking about unless someone put them on wrong before you got it.
Also be sure to save your old shoes as most places will want them for "cores". If postage wasn't so much I'd tell you to box the stuff up and send it to me and I would blast it and paint it for you.
