If you use steel, then the junk carb bases can be used for flanges. A very legitimate use for the Rochester "B"
if you use one barrels. If using two barrels, Carter made a WCD for AMC that has a cast iron flange, and is relatively inexpensive at swap meets.
Maybe I wasn't clear in my description of "conduit bends". We use the preformed aluminum angles and then cut them to fit.
See no reason why steel wouldn't work, aluminum was just easier for us. Like I posted earlier, never did learn to weld; last time I tried, the result looked like the under side of 2nd grade school desks (second hand bubble gum)
