Thanks guys. This is really been a good lesson. I didn't realize how big of a role ignition plays in an engine - especially a mildly built engine.
I'm not sure how much improvement I can expect in gas mileage I can expect, with an ignition upgrade. I mean, at 70 miles per hour I'm only taching 2300 rpms. That's right in the cams' cruising range.
