Well the 292 is in; the 4 speed overdrive is in and the first drive is out of the way. Here's what I'm feeling after the first run:

Engine feels about half as powerful as the old stock 250. eek

Overdrive is nice, but the tranny is not nearly as smooth as the old stock 3 speed.

The speedometer is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off.

Rear tube header leaks. Leak is a result of a mishap that happened during engine installation (long story). Front header is airtight.

Engine is running a little rich with the 500 cfm Edelbrock. Engine starts quickly and the electric choke is absolutely great.

Flowmaster exhaust sounds simply awesome. At idle it could pass for a bent 8. I went with a single muffler with 3 inch inlet and dual 2 1/2 inch outlets all the way out back.

For some strange reason the temperature gauge doesn't work.

Throttle cable setup works horribly. eek Will need lots of adjustment. Lots!

Whining noise coming from timing area. Is this common for new straight six gears? My uncle seems to think this will disappear as the new crank and cam gears wear together.

My priorities to fix things are (in order)

1. Exhaust header leak.
2. Throttle cable.
3. Fuel distribution (lean out or hotter plugs).
4. Temperature gauge.
5. Speedometer.

Any advice or feedback you guys could share would be highly appreciated.

Thanks for all your help!
