If you have only a bent pushrod or two, there will be metal flecks or shavings at the point where the pushrod goes through the hole in the head as it is a very narrow hole.
One more thing you may want to look at for sake of curiosity. Pull the dipstick and see what the oil looks like. look at it in good light and see if there is any metal-flake/glitter in the oil (Hopefully not)
There is enough good in the worst of us and enough bad in the best of us that it does not behoove any of us to criticize the rest of us.
