Same thing happend with the new sending unit for my 68 1/2 ton. The fitting on the new sender was 3/8 and the old fitting was 1/4 had to get an adapter to make the darn thing work. I know that they are aware of this problem but they don't tell you when you order that you need an adapter. If they changed the size then they should provide the proper adapter or at the very least let you know that you will need one.
