Get roadside service from your insurance carrier. Purchase one of those battery packs W/air pump from Costco or whereever you can find one. Fix-a-flat even if you have new tires, you never know what evil lies out there. A blanket and some drinking water for roadside naps.
An extra fan belt or a nylon stocking/pantyhose for emergencies (fan belt breaks) Duct tape, electrical tape, fuses, road flares, extra oil, a set of points and distributer cap, a flash light and small tool kit, maps, gas can, parts house addresses that are on the way. And a lot of patience...it's gonna be a long drive! Start a journal, this would be good conversation for you nad your dad. Have fun!
