do all resistors reduce the voltage to the coil from 12v down to 6-7 volts? With the points closed I like to see around 8 volts. Points open should be battery voltage. Can you eliminate the ceramic resistor if you use a coil with internal resistor? Yes, but you will not get as quick of a start as you would with a bypassed ballast resistor and a coil without an internal resistor.
