... I'm having a math headache, so can't figure it out right now , but with your 2 Ohm resistor you'll get less than 6V to the coil.
I just picked up another resistor to test and it measures 2.4 Ohms and the voltage to the coil is less than 5 volts. ☹ I'm going in the wrong direction. Maybe I need to pick that one up from Speedway.
