I’d guess the Rec gas is higher priced because it is not “watered” down 10%. More bang for you buck so to speak! I’m with 78buckshot, burn 87 and use Sta-bil quite often in my ‘57 with rebuilt 350, and all mowers, snowblowers, power washers.
