I think what I said was maybe it would be better/easier to just find another original gauge. Don't know how easy that would be. I don't want to drill another hole in my dash as what I have now centered under the gauges are turn signals, high beam indicator, check eng light for computer, parking brake light. So If I drill another hole they wont be symmetrical, my guess is no one would notice, but might drive me nut's every time I look at it
The alt has been updated to be self exciting with a different voltage regulator, so I don't know if a light would work unless I change it back to original.
