This is a picky me deal. I never mount a block to one of those cheapy stands with out using a flat washer flipped so the shear burr won't dig into the block, maybe even sand them a bit. Those arms that the bolt goes through sometimes has burrs and or uneven cuts on them.
And mostly noticeable on Al blocks will dig or mark the block. Yeah its bad OCD. Its a machinist thing I guess.
Also a bit leary about hanging an inline engine off of them without supporting the front of the block or assembled engine.
