I just watched a video on one of the parts vendors websites on how to install the door weatherstrip. They use the one kind all the way around and use a flat blade screwdriver in the crumb catcher to mash the retainer down while attaching to the door. I'm still not convinced, the FAM shows a different part number for that weatherstrip section.
The lower windlace that attaches at the step was changed in 1950. The '47 to '49 is what is shown on the Steele document. The retainer screws into the vertical part while sneaking your screwdriver up under the rubber. I'm wondering if a similar change was made to the door weatherstrip during that time and has been long forgotten?
