As far as the engine goes, if it doesn't have the valve cover with the two studs through it, it's probably not the original engine. All the early pre-'54 216 and 235 engines had the two studs. The horsepower on the ID tag would be for the original engine, but that has nothing to do with what engine might be in the truck now. The standard 216 had a max. net hp of 81.5. The 235 had a whopping two more net hp.
