A magazine reported around 1970 that the 400 in the GTO had 10 (?) more HP than the same engine in the Firebird because the secondary air valve stop prevented it from opening fully. The "1 hp per 10 lbs" GM rule (Corvette being the exception).
I used to love de-smogging QJ, so much improvement for an hour's work!
