To be honest, I would make them work by doing what woof said, increasing the diameter or making my own "stops" with tiny cable clamps on either side or something. These are the kinds of fixes you can do while drinking beer.

FYI, I have never used an Ebrake in my life. You will ALWAYS them on when driving away.
