FWIW, I checked the 1929-1942 Chevrolet Master Parts Catalog and it indicates the starter pedal shaft assembly, group number 2.028, part number 598211, is the same for all models except the cab over, for 1938-1940. The 1940 engine I have has a starter assembly that looks like the one Harold posted, except it doesn’t have a threaded end for the starter pedal. However, I do not know for absolute certainty this pedal assembly came initially with this engine.
