I agree w/ Dale - gearing's the first thing you should attend to, especially if you mean "top speed" when you say "power", and if yer budget is tight - the 283 I'm running is stock except for being rebuilt 60 over, and it's got lotsa go for a truck, even w/ 3.90 gears - if you want more top speed find an overdrive trans, cheapest option
