Yes, it is true that fuel injection doesn't do much for max power. I think it would do a lot for a 235 with a cam. Fuel injection does a good job of regulating idle and part- throttle drivability. If you put a wild cam in the 235 you would get better breathing and the fuel injection would take some of the lumpies out of the cam.
