The OD transmission is worth something if, and this is a big IF, the solenoid is working. I know you are a thousand miles away but if someone could use a couple of jumper wires from a battery to the solenoid and see if it clicks. If so and all the gears/bearings are good it is a 150 to 250 dollar unit and if not just put it on a scale. A rebuilt solenoid (no new ones) runs in the $300 range.
