Before sending anything to the scrap man, check the serial number on the engine to see if it matches your paper title number (most vehicles were titled using the engine numbers back then). If it's a replacement engine and you're lucky, the replacing mechanic may have transferred the serial number from the original engine onto that engine. If the numbers match you will need that engine block to prove ownership.
