My position is that if you drove 216 under average conditions for 75,000 miles without dropping the oil pan and pulling some shims from main and rod bearing to restore proper oil clearance, you would probably see some irreparable damage to the crankshaft and connecting rods. This procedure was a regularly scheduled event for babbitt pounders way before the 75,000 mile mark.
