It's pretty much impossible to put the axle in the wrong side, so that's not it. It just won't fit if it's the wrong length. The axles I got from Dan were great - NOS in original GM packing. Good luck with your project. Thanks again to George ('54 3600) for the connection to Dan's. These axles are HARD to come by!
