A little update, I hadn't gotten to the right side shaft, this one was very easy to take off as soon as I took the wheel and hub off. It gave me more than plenty of space/clearance to take the horseshoe retainer out. The left side is another story. Could the fact that the bearing ran out be the problem? I have about 1/4 of an inch up and down play on my shaft from the bearing wearing out. Could that have an impact? Thanks for any help. All I need is about 1/8th of an inch more clearance to get the horseshoe retainer out.
