Someone with a better vocabulary than I have needs to explain the difference between a "series" and a "parallel" circuit, and it works the same way whether it's happening with electricity or liquids. Of course, there's always the possibility that there's a little bit of deliberate obtuseness going on here, which I'd rather believe than the other, more serious possibility.
