Yeah, good job in doing the research. That is what all of us who try to organize documentation spend most of our time doing, but there are so many subjects to cover. I agree it probably isn't worth the trouble, but if you are set on doing it, looks like you have what you need!
The other alternative if you want it to look stock is to modify the old cannister for a spin-on adapter. We talked about this awhile back but never really engineered one that met everyones expectations. It would sure be nice not to have two filters to manage.
