This is awesome. Thanks guys! It's important when writing about something that it makes perfect sense to me so let me see if I have this right...
The Ranco valve controls the flow of hot water to the heater. Turning the knob releases spring pressure and allows water to flow past the stem with the seal on the end of it. Also involved is a thermostatic valve that measures the temperature in the cab and regulates how much water flow is allowed to go to the heater assembly.
... would you say that any differently? What is the difference between this and a straight water valve with the rod and knob welded on the end of it? Not sure why we need a thermostat if we have to mechanically operate it anyway? I'm sure there is something I am not grasping. Thanks!
