While I agree with your approach Deve, there are some who don't have the room or bucks or just arn't set up for a blast cab yet. They still want to do the best prep possible so chemicals may come into play.
Thats fine, phosphoric acid does do the job, it just requires some extra care and attention. My concerns are that those who do use something other than blasting aren't bit in the butt months or years down the road...
