Hmmm.. maybe I need to look it again.. Being that I cut a lot of it out, (the whole toe board section), the only place I saw holding it and having spot welds was on the outside top face of the cowl where the top edge of the firewall slides under a lip.. spot welds all across horizontally.. less than a dozen. the vertical sides are free.
EDIT: After a closer inspection: A hell of a lot more than a dozen!
