32 degrees of dwell is right for a V8, which has a total available dwell of 45 degrees. You're looking for a 66% "points closed" number, which would be 40 degrees on a 6 cylinder engine, (60 degrees available) or something close to that number. I'd shoot for 38-40 degrees for dwell on a stovebolt distributor, which should get the point gap somewhere close to the specification.
