Ok, I fired the old girl up tonight. After shuttin the engine off I visually checked the accel pump squirt, and it seemed good. I originally set the point gap to .019" like the book says to do for new points, but at that gap the dwell was 42*. So I had to set the gap at about .027" to obtain 32* of dwell. I then re-set the ignition timing to right on the ball at approx 550 rpm. Vac advance at that rpm didn't seem to make a difference if it was on or off. When I revved the engine up the dwell stayed right at 32*, hardly any dwell wandering. The hesitation upon throttle application got noticeably better, but still a bit of a dead spot. I didn't monkey with the idle jet adjustment because I didn't have a vacuum gauge. When I locate a vac gauge I will adjust idle jet, hopefully that'll clear up the hesitation. Thoughts???
