I've ran pertronix ignitions on several former cars without any issues. I've got a set for my Buick but I haven't installed it. I'll be keeping my Impala stock. I'm installing an HEI distributor in the truck as I mentioned above. You may want to do some searches on this site to get a feel for the Pertronix stuff. I've heard several horror stories.
